Wakemans to oversee the transformation of major hotel in North Wales

National property and construction consultancy Wakemans has been appointed as employers’ agent to oversee the £4m reconstruction of a major hotel in North Wales that has been empty for four years.

Wakemans has also been appointed to provide quantity surveying and CDM services by property developer PRT Corp Ltd of Manchester on the mixed use scheme which comprises an 82 bedroom budget hotel for Travelodge along with retail and restaurant space at ground floor.

“The redevelopment of this major landmark has been welcomed by the local community as it will bring a massive boost to the tourist economy,” says Wakemans associate director Steve Gascoyne.

“We are undertaking extensive restoration work to modernise most of the internal elements of the building although we will retain the historic façade so that the character remains intact as it is located within a conservation area.”

Structural repair work started on site this month and the hotel, which is expected to create 20 jobs is due to open in May 2014.
