Working together generates success for Birmingham Settlement
Birmingham Settlement, one of Birmingham’s oldest charities is celebrating another year of successfully working in the community, supporting the people of Birmingham to lead fulfilling and happy lives.
Chief Executive Officer Martin Holcombe thanked all the individuals and organisations that had contributed to another successful year when the latest annual review was launched at the charities AGM last week. He said: “We are immensely grateful to all of our staff, supporters, directors and volunteers who have made things happen over the past year.
“We have achieved some great things over the last twelve months despite uncertain economic conditions and reductions in our funding. We have maintained service delivery in all areas and even increased it in some, such as volunteering.”
The charity has seen a rise in demand for many of its services as the recession continues, particularly the money advice service. 2,507 people accessed this service last year with more than £8.9m of personal debt re- scheduled by the money advice team.
