Severn Trent Trust Fund Strengthens Income Maximisation Service
Changes to the welfare system are still leaving many families under-claiming benefits, according to latest statistics from Severn Trent Trust Fund that show almost £500,000 has been under claimed by 153 families since 2014.
In order to address this issue and help customers maximise their income directly, the charity is recruiting a new team of specialist Welfare Benefits Advisers.
“We have seen the amount under claimed per family rise steadily over the last twelve months” says Stuart Braley CEO of Auriga Services, the administrators of Severn Trent Trust Fund. “These new posts will enable us to work with customers directly and ensure that they get the help they need.”
The new roles will enable Severn Trent Trust Fund to provide specific advice on benefits, explain the rules, assist customers in claiming the identified benefits and to help with filling in forms.
“We know that many families in Birmingham are living in poverty and suffering distress. Ladywood was cited in a report last year as having the highest proportion of children living in low income families, 81%. Our aim is to put families in a better position to manage their finances by providing a combination of income maximisation and debt advice.”
The posts are being advertised now so the new service can be up and running by the beginning of March.
