A Personal Approach to the Caring Business
Local business woman Kay Gynane knows from personal experience what it takes to be an excellent carer, having nursed her husband through terminal illness and cared for her grandmother. That’s why the former Post Office executive left her high flying role at London HQ to set up a new business, Kare Plus, to provide high quality nurses and carers to hospitals and care homes in the greater Stafford region.
Kay has experienced the care system from the inside and says she found a wide variation in the quality of care support, particularly for ‘end of life’ care, so she is on a mission to recruit only the best staff as she explains:
“I really want to set the bar high for nursing care in the Stafford area, because everyone deserves the best especially in the ‘end of life’ phase – whether this is at home, hospital or a care home. I am not just looking for well-qualified, fully accredited professionals, I am also looking for people with genuine empathy who will consider both the patient’s needs as well as the family during their difficult time”.”
In order to ensure this Kay is prepared to assist promising candidates with any additional requirements such as training, accreditation and DBS checks. And since Kay is casting her net wide, if distance is proving a problem she will even cover travel expenses for interviews.
As well as generating work for nurses and healthcare workers at local hospitals and care facilities, Kare Plus Stafford has taken on a 17 year old apprentice. Lauren Clarke had decided ‘A’ levels and university was not right for her and is she now working and studying for her NVQ in business administration.
Kay has invested substantially in smart new premises for her Kare Plus business, which is in Gnosall, on the outskirts of Stafford, and has already recruited her first nurses and carers.
“A culture of quality comes from the top,” she says. “So I’m making sure I get everything in place to reflect that ethos. Nationally Kare Plus already has contracts with organisations such as Care UK, Four Seasons and Mencap, and with the growing number of new care homes open in the area, I’m confident my approach of high quality care, well trained professional staff and excellent client support will lead to success!”
Kare Plus, Stafford is based at 1 Station Road, Gnosall, Staffordshire, ST20 0EZ.
