£100 million milestone for Wakemans
Property and construction consultants Wakemans has been appointed on a number of projects valued at over £100 million which, it suggests, provides further evidence of a recovering Midlands property market.
Recent reports have suggested that the recovery in the construction sector is stalling but Birmingham-based Wakemans is experiencing increasing demand from a wide range of clients, in the hospitality, leisure, residential and commercial sectors.
2014 has proved to be a better than expected year despite the variable economic outlook and continued austerity measures. Projects secured during the course of the year include, working in partnership with one of the UK’s leading hotel brands to deliver a major multi million refurbishment programme and an £11 million project with long standing client Bidvest 3663.
Wakemans director Adrian Aston said: “Indications are that the trend is for an improving market with businesses confident to commit to improving and developing their premises. This is despite some black spots such as retail, where changes in the way people shop has caused a significant reduction in the building of new retail outlets.
“We believe that construction will maintain its upward trend even in the face of a weakening economic outlook.”
