Mereway Kitchens has launched a social media competition to support the launch of the new Town & Country collection. The competition is one of a series of digital marketing initiatives designed to help the consumer understand how different and wide ranging the Town & Country collection is.
The competition is hosted on Facebook and presents a town and country option, visitors select their own preference to be in with a chance of winning. Every two weeks the votes are counted and the product with the most votes becomes the prize, the winner is chosen at random from those that voted for that product.
The first product is a cookery book with the trendy Wagamama up against the National Trust Complete Cookery Book. Over the next 6 weeks Facebook fans will be asked to choose between; a magazine subscription for Country Life magazine and Vogue, a magnum of Taittinger and a crate of real ale, and finally a bread maker and a top of the range coffee machine.
Sales and marketing director Graham Jones says, “This competition is a fun and interactive activity that will engage consumers whilst clearly demonstrating the key brand messages for the Town & Country collection.”
The competition is live on the Mereway Kitchens Facebook page now, with links from the website.
The latest book in the Time Travelling Toby series, Time Travelling Toby and the Apollo Moon Landing, will be launched at the National Space Centre on Saturday 3rd October.
The new book will be launched on World Space Day by the author Graham Jones with special guest, Maggie Lieu, a PhD student in Astrophysics that had signed up for a one way ticket to Mars with the Mars One project.
The launch event which is open to all, will be an interactive session that includes a book reading, the building of a time machine and a question and answer session. “I am so excited to be launching this new book with Maggie,” says Graham. “Her enthusiasm and love of astronomy is infectious and I know she will be an inspiration to all young fans of space travel that dream of being an astronaut.”
Maggie has written a forward to the new book and says, “As an astronomer and student and researcher of Astrophysics, I definitely want to travel to space one day and I hope that Time Travelling Toby’s adventures in space will inspire lots of children to want to do the same.”
Time Travelling Toby and the Apollo Moon Landing is the third book in the series that follows the adventures of Toby and his brothers as they travel through time. This book, like the others, is designed to generate interest in historical events whilst also giving kids a fun and interesting story to spark their imagination.
The books which include accurate historical facts and a detailed design for the time machine, have been a great hit with kids, critics, parents and teachers.

The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), Midlands region has announced an exciting series of events for the autumn season across the East and West Midlands.
The programme for the next two months includes seven practical workshops and presentations on a range of leading edge topics relevant to marketing professionals and small business owners. Midlands Chair Dr Paul Connor said, “We are delighted to have put together such an inspiring range of events, offering world class marketing expertise from some of the most respected marketing professionals in the Midlands.”
The season begins with a masterclass on content marketing that will take place in Birmingham city centre from 6.00pm until 8.30pm on 29 September. On 06 October the Pride Veterinary Centre in Derby will host an evening session on building a brand with the opportunity for delegates to bring along an example of branding for a critique and MOT by the speaker and the audience. A making the best of video workshop takes place in the evening on 13 October at Staffordshire University.
There is an afternoon workshop on ‘How to position your brand to achieve a competitive edge’, being held in Cannock on 21 October.
Two events will be held at the Holiday Inn in Northampton, an evening presentation about mobile websites on 07 October and a half day on marketing metrics and how to measure for success on 21 October.
In addition to the above the food, drink and agriculture group are running a special evening event on food marketing with a guest speaker from M&S at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire on 14 October. “Marketing is essential for all businesses and is forever developing and adapting to take on board new technologies. We have developed a rich and varied programme that is full of relevance that offers something for everyone,” says Dr Connor.
