The KBSA has added a new award, the KBSA Kitchen Concept Designer of the Year to this year’s categories.  The award is designed to test a designer’s skill in working to a specific brief in an average size kitchen.

The KBSA re-launched the Designer Awards successfully last year as a result of member demand and has introduced the new award in response to feedback that some awards favour the more expensive projects where space is unlimited.  This award focuses on a typical family kitchen that still warrants an inspirational design despite the limitations on space.

“We are delighted to have introduced this new category and hope that may of our members will rise to the challenge and show that they can offer the excellence they are renowned for – whatever the brief,” says Graham Ball, CEO of the KBSA.

The brief for the Concept Designer of the Year Award outlines details of the family and what they hope to achieve from their new kitchen; it includes a floor plan with a wish list of appliances.  Entrants are asked to submit a CAD design in response to the brief.

“We have invited KBSA member Stuart Irving of Ablutions in Coalville, to join the judging panel for this award,” says Graham.  “He has been instrumental in developing this idea and the brief.”

The awards will be presented at the national networking dinner which will be held at Billesley Manor Hotel in Alvechurch in Warwickshire on 11th September.

Entries can be sent electronically this year as well as posted with a deadline of 31 May 2013.

The UK’s leading domiciliary and medical care franchise Kare Plus is proving so popular that they have just sold their first double territory management franchise, to physiotherapist Vijay Guntuka.

Vijay, a healthcare professional in the NHS, works within the community frequently visiting nursing and care homes, so he was more than aware of the growing demand for independent care providers and the potential for building a successful business in the sector.

Searching for a franchise that suited his needs, Vijay discovered Kare Plus. Although he investigated other healthcare service providers, he says Kare Plus stood out from the rest.

‘Kare Plus was exactly what I was looking for. They offer medical as well as domiciliary services, which is important to me, and I was really impressed by the support structure and experience of the management team. In short, I was convinced I wouldn’t find a better franchise opportunity.’

So convinced was Vijay that he has now invested in two franchise territories – Bradford and Scarborough – and says he has ambitious plans for future growth.

Rather than leave his career as a physiotherapist, Vijay has recruited a high flying management team for the day to day operation of both franchises from the outset, he expects to have established Kare Plus as the leading service provider in each area within a year and will be looking at investing in a third territory in due course.

‘Vijay’s investment in two territories and the setting up of two dedicated management teams reflects his confidence in the Kare Plus brand and business model,” says Steve Welsh, Kare Plus Managing Director. “People working in the NHS can see exactly what the opportunities are in the sector and we anticipate many more health professionals will be quick to seize the chance to build a lucrative second income stream with Kare Plus.”

Vijay concludes, “As a healthcare professional, I love the idea that my business will be making a difference to patients’ lives and improving the standard of care in my region while making money for

my future. It takes a really great franchise to illicit an immediate commitment to two locations, but I know I’ve made a great decision, and can’t wait to see the results.’

Vijay is the first to own a Kare Plus management franchise (or two!) , but with the projected growth of Kare Plus, it is evident he won’t be the last. Managing Director Steve Welsh is excited for the future of the franchise.

‘Within the next four years, we hope to be negotiating NHS contracts worth an estimated £140m. We also aim to develop our services to meet the increasing demand for health and particularly elderly care. We have already quadrupled our network within the last nine months and anticipate more than doubling it again by the end of 2013.”

Editors Notes:

Over the last twelve years, Kare Plus has established itself as one of the leading providers of quality nursing and domiciliary care, supplying medical and non-medical personnel to NHS hospitals, GP surgeries, some of the UK’s largest private health and nursing care facilities, as well as to families whose primary concern is to have their loved ones cared for in their own home.

One of only a few private care service providers in the franchising arena licensed to supply to the NHS and also fully accredited by the CQC (Care Quality Commission), Kare Plus is perfectly placed to benefit from the huge opportunities opening up as the biggest reorganisation in the history of the health service becomes law and provision of care and support for the elderly rises up the political agenda.
